Orchard Medical has a private radiology suite in the office to perform x-rays and bone density scans. This eliminates the need to schedule a separate appointment at another location. The advantage of having an x-ray at the time of your appointment helps the physician diagnose the problem quickly. The ability to perform our own bone density scans allows us to proactively monitor bone mass. Osteoporosis is the most common human bone disease and is part of the natural aging process. Women are four times more likely to develop the disease than men. However, men suffer 1/3 of all hip fractures that occur. Most insurance companies cover a bone density scan once every 24 months to detect any bone loss. If detected at an early stage we can intervene to educate you about corrective measures and or medications that are available.
On set days each month Orchard Medical Group is also contracted with an imaging company to perform a variety of ultrasound studies to assist in early detection of potential diseases. Procedures done outside the hospital setting are always less expensive to both the insurance company and the patient.
